would anyone even have any way of knowing if you purchased something with a credit card? I do not have a credit card and do not intend to put myself even further in debt short of that which I already owe circa my student loans even though I went to the cheapest, historically black 4 year institution available to me with no cable in the dorms or anything and I can't drive and have never had a paying job because no one ever ends up hiring me even though I am 21 and have nowhere to stay while not on campus except with my grandma and she does not have a computer; I just have to come here to the library and can only get online for 30 minutes. But anyway, what if you made a purchase with a credit card and then tried to return it and get cash?

Anything bought with a credit card when returned, would only be credited back to the card. They know if a credit card was used or not and they won't give you cash back.

I really don't know what your entire life story has to do with your question but whatever. You cannot usually return something without a receipt. On that said receipt it will tell the store whether or not it was paid for with a credit card. If it was, they will credit it back to the card and not give you cash. So the answer is, you can't, and they'll tell you so.

The store will usually only credit your credit card, not give you cash, if you have no receipt, they will probably just give you in store credit.

I think you can only get a credit to your card and not cash back.

the charge will still be on your statement and so you will owe it...are you just trying to get some cash? our local grocery store will let you pay with a credit card and also give you extra cash back if you want....don't know if any of this helps
